The Zinc
StoryZINC OXIDE

Although Zinc is said to have been known within brass alloys since Roman times, it was not until the 13th or 14th century in India that the process of producing metallic Zinc as a vapor and then a condensate has been reached.

Today at Logia, we have perfected an intricate production process using a fully-automated distillation method which renders our products perfectly spherical and ensures a fine and controlled particle size ideal for Zinc-rich formulations. The distillation involves vaporization of Zinc at temperatures as high as 1300°C then rapid cooling and condensation as Zinc dust. Throughout this process, the product is freed from impurities such as lead and iron particles.

ApplicationsApplications

Zinc and Zinc Oxide are versatile substances that possess many useful properties making them instrumental to a multitude of industries. Zinc’s ability to oxidize in air and form a coating that protects the rest of the metal makes it incredibly useful in steel industries as it fortifies steel surfaces against corrosion and atmospheric factors.

Zinc oxide (ZnO), can be prepared in high purity and with variable crystal forms by vaporizing Zinc in the air. Due to its high heat-conducting capacity, Zinc Oxide is frequently incorporated into rubber to dissipate heat. Zinc Oxide is also known for its capacity to absorb UV rays, promote tissue growth and healing, and for its antiseptic and antibacterial effects. These have rendered it widely useful in the cosmetics and personal care industry.

Zinc Oxide crystals can also be treated to produce different electrical, photoelectrical, and catalytic properties, allowing Zinc Oxide to be used as a semiconductor in television tubes, fluorescent lamps, and photocopying processes. Additionally, Zinc is incorporated in a myriad of other industries, including:

Fertilizers
Animal Nutrition
Veterinary GMP for Prescription (POM)
Polymers and derivatives
Batteries
Glass
Ceramics
Paints and Coatings
